Drummers - Carla Azar
Carla Azar (born in Huntsville, Alabama, USA) is a
musician and a member of the Los Angeles based band, Autolux. Azar is a
multi-instrumentalist but mostly serves as the band's drummer. In
addition to drums, she plays glockenspiel, xylophone, piano, and bass.
Autolux signed to DMZ Records in 2003. DMZ was founded by the highly
respected musician/record producer, T Bone Burnett and the Coen
Brothers. Autolux consists of two other members: Eugene Goreshter - lead
singer, bass player and Greg Edwards - guitarist. In 2001, Azar
shattered her elbow at the end of a long fall from a very high stage and
underwent a successful surgery to reconstruct the bones in her elbow. In
2002, she did a small tour of Japan (playing mostly drums, some guitar,
and mellotron) with Vincent Gallo to support his record "When".
In 2005, Carla played on T-bone Burnett's latest solo record along with
legendary drummer Jim Keltner and guitarist Marc Ribot. She also
recorded the minimalistic drums on John Frusciante's predominantly
acoustic 2004 album 'Curtains'.
